What’s a Learn-Along Tutorial?

At various points on this site, I’ve posted what I call ‘learn-along tutorials’. What do I mean by that?

In my experience, when you’re learning something new, it helps to talk about what you’re learning, and force yourself to explain it to someone new. Talking about it helps, but in my experience, forcing yourself to write out an explanation tends to help you identify the gaps in your own understanding. In addition, the process of writing something down tends to help you organize your thoughts about it.

However, this comes with an important caveat. Although I’ve researched these tutorials and have tested everything in them, I’m learning this along with you and I’m not a professional developer. There may be things I’ve misunderstood, or things that work but aren’t good practice. So, enjoy learning along with these tutorials, but take them with a grain of salt.
